Hey friend,
Lately I’ve made a habit of sitting down every day to write, and I’ve found myself writing a lot poetry. It’s made writing fun for me again, and it helps me reflect on what I’m writing about on a deeper level.
Anyways, I figured I’d start sharing what comes through. This is a poem about growth.
the seed rests in darkness
unaware of the sky
yet it grows
trusting the soil
-
be patient with yourself
allow the process to be
without needing to see
every moment of becoming
-
growth happens
in silence
in stillness
in moments
unnoticed
trust it
Oftentimes, growth is invisible. And that can feel discouraging and frustrating.
It’s easy to see this while I’ve been learning the guitar. Especially as I progress, the periods of feeling like I’m not making any progress become longer and longer, despite hours practice.
But this is true with anything we do - from learning an instrument, to unlearning years of conditioning.
The day we plant the seed is not the day we eat the fruit. Depending on the seed, it can take years, even decades to really see the growth that’s been taking place underneath the surface.
So whatever seeds you’re watering, keep watering them. Just because you can’t see the growth, doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
Take care,
your friend Beej
A great poem and reminder - thank you!
